Hi, I’m Alison. I founded Little Bird because I believe in the potential of you.
As a professional and as a mum I love seeing people grow. So, for the last two decades, I’ve made that passion my career. During those years, I’ve found that personal development isn’t always as personal as it should be.
We all learn differently. Which means that fixed, off-the-shelf change programmes often miss their mark. They can be disengaging, drain confidence and don’t give a long-term boost to our behaviour.
Little Bird is different. Little Bird's purpose is to help you find your Little Bird and set it free.
It’s a partnership between you and Little Bird.
We start by listening. We find out your personal values – the beliefs which drive and inspire your achievement. We build a mutually trusting relationship to understand the hurdles you face. And then, together, we create a strategy that lets you overcome them. It’s a living, breathing plan which constantly evolves as we progress.
We develop in a positive, safe place that removes limiting beliefs about our abilities and allows you to flourish without fear.
We work with businesses large and small, schools, charities and individual adults and children. And whether we're leading groups or coaching one-to-one, everything we do at Little Bird is built around you.
You can find out more about our experience with each sector by reading on. But there’s no substitute for getting to know each other. So, for any questions or to discuss your specific needs, let's talk.
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got. - Mark Twain
We partner with people in lots of different environments. Here are some of the ways in which we can help.
In business, it sometimes feels like you’re expected to know everything. This expectation becomes a pressure – a fear of failure, a fear of judgement. It prevents you asking for help.
We believe businesses need to get better at encouraging people to grow and at giving them the confidence to seek support when they need it.
But this isn’t about simply putting staff on a training course. Senior Leadership commitment is critical to success. At Little Bird, we engage all levels of an organisation personally, from the Exec Office to the Frontline.
Depending on your requirements, We lead a range of partnerships, including one-to-one leadership coaching, group development sessions, informal one-to-one guidance and dedicated customer service training, all with a focus on behavioural change. Because we know that if people make great choices, they deliver great service.
Children and young people live through huge change and it’s crucial we do as much as we can to support their development.
Moving school, going to University or emerging into the world of work are just some of the key moments we help them prepare for. We provide individual coaching on single, critical skills like person impact and self awareness. We empower children to develop positive mind-sets and self-esteem, growing their emotional intelligence. We align curriculum objectives to work experience days that take place within the workplace itself.
In one example, we placed students in busy, front-facing positions at a large international business. Here, the learning objectives of their leisure and tourism studies were bought vividly to life – their subsequent high grades demonstrating their engagement and success.
We work with children both as individuals and within the school environment, giving them the confidence to handle the hurdles of life and fulfil their own potential.
We collaborate with both the staff and users of charities, helping them confront their personal challenges.
Working with a local charity that provides shelter for vulnerable young people, we help marginalised users find their way back into society. We start by sharing our own stories to promote two-way trust.
By overcoming self-esteem and confidence issues together, we encourage personal responsibility and strip away blame. Each individual understands how to make better decisions and learns new strategies for dealing with the outside world.
At Little Bird, we recognise the importance of engaging everyone which is why we offer support for the hostels staff too. This double approach proves everyone’s commitment to our aims.
When we work with an individual for the first time, our partnership begins in the same way it does with any business: We listen to you.
Whether it’s mentoring and coaching, building confidence and self-esteem or something completely different, we find the right approach to face your challenges together.
And if you’ve been part of a development group in a business, school or not-for-profit, our relationship doesn’t simply end with the programme. We encourage you to keep talking and get in touch anytime for a chat, a coffee and continuing 1-2-1 guidance.
The same rules apply to children and young people too. We help them prepare for life and be the people they want to be.
Here are just a few comments from people we’ve worked alongside. Please do get in touch for more details.
I flew from Birmingham Airport to Salzburg. I just wanted to get in touch to say how friendly and cheerful all staff we encountered were, it was lovely and really noticeable. People easily take the time to get in touch to complain and don't often do the same to praise. Thank you for a wonderful start to our holiday.
The programme clearly has a significant impact on all those that take part. It is fantastic to hear people say "how can I" rather than "I can't". For the management team, we are enjoying getting to know a broader range of people through the programme and value enormously the involvement of Business Partners that is helping to create "one team - the Birmingham Airport Team".
We are delighted that the Which? Survey highlighted Birmingham as the best large airport in the UK - our passengers are surely seeing the benefits of the programme as well.
This is being noticed; indeed the Government Minister for Tourism, John Penrose MP, was keen to hear more about the Birmingham Airport Customer Service Programme at a recent seminar on the topic.

“Having worked with Little Bird previously, when recently moving to a new role and organisational culture, I instinctively knew that Little Bird were the right partner to unlock the potential within the new organisation.
Little Bird really understand organisational culture, they are impartial and non judgemental in their approach to working with clients and they really seek to understand with an amazing ability to get to the heart beat of team and individual dynamics very quickly.
The ability to listen and find the right tone to communicate with all levels in an organisation is astounding.
Little Bird will work with you to tailor the programme that will get the desired outcome for your organisation, whether that is short, medium or part of a long term strategy.
They are not prescriptive or off the shelf, they are very open, honest and display absolute integrity.
The contribution and overt difference that Little Bird have made to both Interserve and the NHS has been outstanding.
I truly believe that Little Bird are market leading in all they do.
They will make the most from you, so you can "make the most of you"
As a customer facing service provider, it is critical to the long term survival of our business to ensure all employees are fully aware of the importance of the role they play when trying to achieve “outstanding” customer service.
Today’s multi cultural workforce provides a myriad of personalities, behaviours, race, religion etc. Having the right people with the right skills has never been more critical or valuable in providing our organisation with a real competitive advantage.
With this in mind, our business carefully sought out a training provider who could deliver a new way of thinking that would have a long term positive impact on our people and culture and to help our organisation deliver service excellence.
Little Bird development sets a new standard in professionalism and capability. From the very beginning Little Bird has been instrumental in our mission to achieve service excellence for our customers; they worked with us every step of the way, from surveying and analyzing our current situation, formulating a bespoke training programme to offering advice on how we could continue the momentum with our own development workshops.
Little Bird training is not easy to describe, it is something you need to experience. The development is unique, and in my view, offers the most effective customer service training programme on the market today.
